Senior Commercial Accountant

About the role

As our Senior Commercial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the financial health of our commercial operations. Working at the intersection of Finance and the business, you’ll analyse performance, support strategic decision-making, and drive accurate financial reporting within Hub88.

From forecasting and profitability analysis to supplier reconciliations and process improvements, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how we operate while collaborating with teams across the business. You will report to the Platform Senior Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and control of accounts.
  • Preparing and examining accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Analysing financial information and irregularities, taking ownership of identifying issues with suppliers, including using appropriate judgement around materiality.
  • Highlighting discrepancies within supplier reconciliations with the commercial teams around areas such as bonuses, exchange rates and period cut-offs, and working to resolve them with suppliers.
  • Forecasting expenditure on suppliers based on revenue expectations, taking into account tiers, growth expectations and supplier changes (churn and new suppliers).
  • Profitability analysis, comparing actuals with forecasts and working with the commercial team to flag any concerns about profitability on individual deals.
  • Helping extend the capabilities of our products by using knowledge and experience to guide our IT builds.
  • Month-end and year-end activities.
  • Invoicing between group companies.
  • Tax reports.
  • Making payments within the limits set by the company.
  • Communication with accountants and tax specialists of international group companies.
  • Preparation of annual reports and running audit processes.
  • Assisting in group consolidation procedures and statistical reports.

Key skills & experience:

  • A degree in finance, or equivalent level qualification.
  • Previous working experience in finance (3+ years).
  • Excellent written and verbal English; Estonian or Maltese is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of accounting legislation, procedures and principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Initiative and great decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and correctness, with the ability to prioritise tasks based on urgency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Honesty and a strong sense of responsibility.
