Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer

Time: Full-time (40h / week)
Location: Estonia
Contract Type: Employment Contract

About the role

As a Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer, you will take ownership of designing, scaling and operating the infrastructure behind Hub88’s global iGaming platform: 220+ microservices across seven production regions and multiple AWS accounts. You will act as a technical leader within the operations team, raising the reliability, security and cost-efficiency of the platform while making it easier and safer for engineering teams to ship. You won’t just keep systems running. You will lead initiatives that improve how we build, deploy, monitor and recover them, replacing manual operations with automation and managed services wherever it makes sense. You are comfortable owning complex infrastructure problems end to end, and you influence technical direction through deep expertise and clear communication

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment and lifecycle management of multi-region infrastructure on AWS and Hetzner for mission-critical, high-volume transaction services (ECS on EC2 and Fargate, EKS, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, ElastiCache, RabbitMQ/Amazon MQ, ALB/WAF, Route53)
  • Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines for rapid, secure delivery (GitHub Actions & Jenkins), including approval gates, rollbacks and deployment safety.
  • Architect infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and Ansible across AWS and Hetzner, and move us towards reviewed, automated plan/apply workflows, IaC linting and infrastructure testing.
  • Own reliability: define SLIs/SLOs, lead incident response and on-call, run root cause analysis and blameless post-mortems, and drive follow-up actions to completion.
  • Champion observability: build and maintain monitoring and alerting (AppSignal, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK), reduce alert noise, and introduce distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry).
  • Work with developers and DBAs to scale the data layer across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse and Redis.
  • Drive the evolution of container orchestration across AWS ECS, EKS (including stateful workloads such as Elasticsearch on Kubernetes) and Helm.
  • Plan capacity and optimise cost: right-size clusters, compute and databases, and prefer managed AWS services over self-run components.
  • Collaborate with security and architecture teams on secrets management, IAM, WAF/TLS policy, patching, vulnerability scans, audit evidence and disaster-recovery readiness.
  • Mentor engineers across DevOps and engineering teams, and write runbooks and documentation others can follow.
  • Proactively identify and lead infrastructure improvements, and evaluate emerging tools to recommend changes to our cloud architecture and delivery capabilities.
  • Design and run AI agent workflows for site reliability across service delivery, monitoring and deployment, connecting agents to observability, cloud and ticketing tools (via MCP or similar) for triage, diagnosis, reporting and message-based support; automate repetitive operational work where it saves time without lowering reliability.
  • Champion AI governance in infrastructure: read-only and least-privilege credentials, human approval for production changes, audit trails, and no secrets in prompts or logs.

Key skills & experience

  • 5+ years in DevOps, SRE or infrastructure engineering roles with increasing responsibility and ownership, including running production systems in high-availability environments.
  • Hands-on experience working in GitHub, Jira and Confluence, including pull request workflows, CI/CD integration, sprint delivery and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Strong expertise in AWS (ECS, EC2/ASG, VPC, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, ALB/WAF, IAM, Route53, ACM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch) and hybrid cloud environments; experience with Hetzner or similar providers is a strong plus.
  • Production-grade IaC and configuration management: Terraform (module design, remote state, multi-account and multi-environment layouts) and Ansible, plus scripting in Bash and Python.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD systems in fast-paced, production-critical environments, ideally GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Proven experience building and operating containerised environments with Docker, AWS ECS and Kubernetes (EKS, Helm).
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, logging and alerting with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch and APM tooling.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, load balancing, VPC peering, VPN), firewalls and security controls.
  • Experience with system performance tuning, capacity planning and cost optimisation in cloud environments.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, write clear incident updates and document complex systems.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL (AWS RDS/Aurora), ClickHouse and RabbitMQ is a strong advantage.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLM-based agents in infrastructure and operations work, with sound judgement on when to verify or override their output.
  • Strong understanding of AI tooling security risks, including prompt injection, data leakage and over-permissioned credentials.
  • Experience with MCP or similar tool-integration approaches, and with frontier model APIs (such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini), is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, policy-as-code (Atlantis) or regulated-industry audits (e.g. GCGRA, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS) is a plus.
